CHAPTER 27

Great Non-Twinkle Escape

The past few days had been idyllic for Decxtrose Epitoppe. Chlorophylle was completely at ease and cooperative. He candidly wished that this truce would last forever.

“I can surely tell Chlorophylle tomorrow morning that I will be gone until April 10, on another mission to India,” Decxtrose made a mental note in his mind on the fourth night of April. “She is going to be overjoyed to learn that I have to help someone and will probably hug me or even kiss me passionately for being altruistic, courtesy of God.”

However, Decxtrose had not taken care to read Chlorophylle’s mind for the second time.

Trouble broke loose the next morning, the fifth day of April, when he discussed the upcoming trip with his wife.

Verbal diatribes and rancorous threats flowed liberally. Decxtrose ran into the refuge of the master bedroom, locked the door behind him and fell on his bed.

Rebounding quickly, he retrieved the packed carry-on luggage and sneaked out of the bedroom window.

Fortunately, Oxaloasetaite had lost his guard duty job earlier, because of the coalition’s decision to go soft on Decxtrose temporarily.

Decxtrose raced to his car and fled to the Will Rogers World Airport before Chlorophylle found out.

Chlorophylle, unaware of Decxtrose’s disappearance, quickly dialed coalition headquarters. She summarily summoned the feisty five to carry out Phase II of their plan.

“He is at it again! The truce is off! Come quickly before he leaves for some magical tryst with someone!” Chlorophylle lamented over the telephone.

Phase-I, involving close monitoring of Decxtrose’s activities, had been a sore failure. It was thoroughly associated with a chronic inability to crack the mystery surrounding Decxtrose’s sudden change in demeanor. The monitoring had only helped to amplify his philandering to a completely disconcerting level, to the point that several of the coalition members were losing sleep on that account. Under such circumstances, the coalition considered it prudent to escort Decxtrose forcibly to a psychiatrist.

The core coalition members observed upon arrival that Decxtrose’s car was missing. They scrutinized the house further. After some serious investigation, they came across the open master bedroom window and precisely surmised that Decxtrose made his getaway via that route.

Chlorophylle was hopping mad now.

It did not matter to Decxtrose at that time point. He was on his way to India. Even though he had declared his special transportation capabilities to his wife, he did not keep harping on it. There was no reason to give fodder for the Decxtrose Demolition Coalition to connect βætαlphéa to himself.

If Chlorophylle came to know that he was βætαlphéa, she or one of the coalition members would happily broadcast it to the world. Then, he would have come under national security surveillance instead of family surveillance and possibly face prosecution. Such a scenario would have wrecked his missions entirely.

Therefore, Decxtrose drove to the airport to give the impression of flying to India. He was sure the coalition members would comb the airport area for him.

The clock in his car showed that it was 8:00 a.m., on the fifth morning of April.
